Urinoma Carcinoma CT Findings

  • Can be confined fluid collections or free fluid
  • Accumulation is in the retroperitoneal and perirenal spaces
  • Typically leaks into subcapsular location
  • Delayed excretory phase is best to diagnose urinoma
  • Urinoma may be a consequence of an obstructing stone

Etiology:

  • Trauma
  • Surgery
  • Obstructions such as stones

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • More common in patients with high blood pressure and diabetes

Presentation:

  • Palpable mass
  • Abdominal pain
  • Malaise

Prognosis:

  • The prognosis for a urinoma is excellent after treatment
  • The cause of obstruction should be found and treated if able
