Acinar Tumor CT Findings

  • Pancreatic head is most common site
  • Lesions are usually solid and exophytic
  • Mean size around 7 cm

Etiology:

  • Unknown

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • More common in males
  • Typically presents after age 60

Presentation:

  • Abdominal and/or back pain
  • Weight loss
  • Nausea
  • Jaundice is not a common symptom as it is with PDAC

Prognosis:

  • Since acinar tumors are very rare, the true prognosis is unknown
  • The 5-year survival rate has been given as low as 10% up to 42%
