  • Mucosal enhancement
  • Wall thickening
  • Infiltration of the periverticular fat
  • Fistulae to colon may be defined

Other Information About Bladder Diverticulitis

Etiology:

  • Can be congenital or acquired

Epidemiology:

  • Very rare
  • Congenital typically presents before age 10
  • Acquired typically presents after age 60 and is more common in males

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • Hematuria
  • Urinary retention
  • UTI

Prognosis:

  • Diverticulitis can resolve spontaneously
  • If bladder diverticulitis persists, it can be treated and may require surgery
