Prostatitis CT Findings
- Prostate enlargement
- Peripheral enhancement
- Hypodense
- Multiple fluid-like collections
- May be best seen on MRI

Other Information About Prostatitis
Etiology:
- Most commonly caused by bacteria
- Prostatitis may also have no known cause
Epidemiology:
- Very common
- More common in patients with a catheter or frequent UTIs
Presentation:
- Dysuria
- Urinary hesitancy
- Hematuria
- Pain that affects the abdomen, back, perineum and/or genitals
- Dyspareunia and/or odynorgasmia
Prognosis:
- Prostatitis caused by bacteria can be treated with antibiotics
- Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis (not caused by bacteria) does not need treatment
