  • Low CT attenuation (typically less than -100 HU)
  • Can be seen within a pulmonary consolidation, mass, or nodule

  • Infectious disease

  • Pulmonary embolism

Epidemiology:

  • Can present at any age

Presentation:

  • May be asymptomatic

Prognosis:

  • Prognosis depends on the cause of the cavitary lesion
