- Esophagus ends in a pouch rather than connecting to the stomach
- Typically diagnosed at birth

Epidemiology:
- Presents shortly after birth
Presentation:
- Cough
- Choking and/or vomiting
- Cyanosis
- White, frothy bubbles in the mouth or drooling
Prognosis:
- The survival rate of esophageal atresia with surgery is around 90-95%
