  • Septations
  • Foci with high attenuation
  • Typically includes debris, fat, keratin, and/or cholesterol
  • May have calcifications

Etiology:

  • Congenital

Epidemiology:

  • Rare
  • More common in females
  • More common in children and young adults
  • Average age at presentation is 17 years

Presentation:

  • Typically asymptomatic
  • Abdominal pain and/or discomfort
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Palpable mass

Prognosis:

  • Epidermoid cysts are benign
  • Patients with symptoms may want to consider surgery
