Urothelial Transitional Cell Carcinoma CT Findings

  • Single or multiple sessile filling defects that compress the renal sinus fat
  • Pelvicaliceal irregularities (stricture like)
  • Focal or diffuse mural thickening
  • Caliceal amputation
  • Tumor filled distended calices
  • May be multifocal including ureter and bladder

Other Information About Urothelial TCC

Etiology:

  • Smoking increases risk

Epidemiology:

  • Male to female ratio 2:1
  • Most common in 7th and 8th decades of life

Presentation:

  • Hematuria
  • Back pain

Prognosis:

  • Overall 5-year survival rate is 76%
