Adrenal Hematoma CT Findings

• Round or oval mass
• High attenuation (50-90 HU)
• Asymmetric enlargement
• Homogeneous
• Will often enhance with contrast depending on etiology of bleed

Etiology:

• Trauma
• Infection
• Surgery
• Blood disorders
• Malignancy

Epidemiology:

• Anyone is susceptible to adrenal hematoma

Presentation:

• Abdominal pain
• Weakness
• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Nausea and/or vomiting
• Hypotension
• Hypoglycemia
• Muscle aches

Prognosis:

• Can most often be managed conservatively depending on its cause
