Cor Triatriatum: Facts

• Anomaly where the left atrium separated by a membrane or a fibromuscular band
• In pediatric patients associated with major congenital lesions including Tetrology of Fallot, double outlet right ventricle or coarctation
• Usually involves left atrium although occasionally may involve the right atrium
• 0.1-0.4% of all infants with cardiac disease
• Most patients present in infancy but others may present in childhood or early adulthood

• Asymptomatic
• Heart murmur
• Incidental finding on imaging study
• Symptomatic
• Exertional dyspnea
• Hemoptysis
• Atrial fibrillation (palpitations)
• Systemic thromboembolism
