Scan Comments: IV contrast may be useful if a soft tissue mass or abscess is being evaluated. All scans are performed using the ALARA principle.

Comments: The UHR protocol is used to improve spatial resolution and fine detail. The limitation is that the scan time is significantly longer when compared to using a larger collimator size. CareDose is used to reduce patient dose.

Reconstruction Comments: As a result of using the 16 x 0.3 mm collimator, the reconstructedfield of view is limited to 30cm. Additionally, a soft tissue thin data set is performed using 0.6 mm x 0.4 mm slices, an U30u algorithm, and a window width and level of 410/10. Coronal and sagittal image reconstructions are also performed. 3D VRT reconstructions are also performed.

Comments: IV contrast is not routinely necessary, however, if warranted we use the above protocol.
