Lung apices through the diaphragm to include both adrenal glands
Scan Comments: If IV contrast is warranted, venous phase imaging is routinely performed with a 40-60 second delay. A flash spiral mode can be used to improve scan speed and limit breathing artifact if the patient is short of breath. All scans are performed using the ALARA principle
Care kV (ref. kV 120)
Care Dose Reference mAs
Average Acquisition Time
128 x 0.6mm
Comments: CareDose is used to reduce patient dose. 100 kVp can be used for most average size patients which will significantly reduce patient dose.
Window Width and Level
Reconstruction Comments: A high resolution reconstruction is also performed using 1mm x 10mm slices, a B80f kernel, and a window width and level of 1600 / -500. Coronal and sagittal image reconstructions are also performed.
Comments:IV contrast is not routinely necessary, however, if warranted we use the above protocol.
