Seamless integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the existing workflow of a health care system requires a well-defined governance process [ 1 ]. A strategic plan should inform the governance process. Although most radiology departments and hospitals have governance structures for operations, they do not always directly apply to AI strategy. In some cases, they can even hinder AI implementation because these solutions require a different set of resources and a different form of oversight. When our radiology department at a quaternary academic medical center first began considering AI solutions, the process was inefficient, as each new tool required the clinical champion or interested party within the department to reidentify the necessary stakeholders. As a result, evaluations and deployments took years, and important steps were omitted or delayed.
