Just a few years ago, generative artificial intelligence (AI) was emerging as a means of data augmentation and expanding individuals capabilities [1]. Now, the health care industry stands at the threshold of a transformative era defined by a fundamental shift in how work is done and who is doing it. On one side, clinicians are overwhelmed by mounting documentation and administrative burdens, leading to widespread burnout and diminished patient interaction. On the other, we are on the cusp of transferring those responsibilities to a growing field (within the generative AI paradigm), which is evolving from a passive tool into interactive and collaborative entities. As AI continues to evolve, particularly in health care, we are witnessing the rise of software platforms designed to deliver specialized services through intelligent digital agents, marking the beginning of the age of agentic AI.
