Mature cystic teratoma is a commonly encountered ovarian tumor, constituting 20% of all ovarian tumors in adults and 50% of all ovarian tumors in children [1]. Mature cystic teratomas are composed of well-differentiated derivations of the three germ cell layers (ectoderm, meso-derm, and endoderm). In most cases, they are easily diagnosed on imaging studies because of their characteristic intratumoral fat component.
