OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to describe the manifestations of pulmonary embolism on l8F-FDG PET scans in 13 patients.
CONCLUSION. The activity of acute pulmonary embolism on FDG PET scans was sig nificantly higher than the activity of vessels not containing thrombi. The shape of the abnormal FDG uptake may be focal or curvilinear.
