Deep Learning ❯ Glossary

AI
Artificial intelligence is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and other animals.

CPU
A central processing unit is the electronic circuitry within a computer that carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic, logical, control and input/output operations specified by the instructions.

Deep Learning
Deep learning is part of a broader family of machine learning methods based on learning data representations, as opposed to task-specific algorithms. Learning can be supervised, semi-supervised or unsupervised.

GPU
A graphics processing unit is a specialized electronic circuit designed to rapidly manipulate and alter memory to accelerate the creation of images in a frame buffer intended for output to a display device.

Machine Learning
Machine learning is a field of computer science that gives computer systems the ability to "learn" with data, without being explicitly programmed. The name Machine learning was coined in 1959 by Arthur Samuel.
