Specific Anatomic Region | Kidney |
Application | Evaluate suspected renal artery stenosis |
Author | Urban et al. |
Reference Source | Radiographics 2001;21:373-386 |
Scanner Used | Siemens Somatom Plus 4 |
Injection Rate | 3cc/sec |
Contrast Volume and Type | 100-120cc Omnipaque 350 |
Area Scanned | Through regions of renal arteries |
Scan Delay (2 delays if dual spiral) | 25-30 sec and 3 minutes |
Length of Spiral (time) | 20-30sec each |
Slice Thickness | 2-3mm |
Table Speed/Pitch | 4-6mm/sec |
Reconstruction Interval | 1mm |
3D Technique Used | Volume rendering & MIP |
Comment: - Non contrast CTs are first obtained to localize the renal arteries for the CT angiogram. This allows a smaller scan volume which is critical with SDCT and the use of 1-2mm collimation.
- 3D with VRT is accurate to quantify stenosis.
