Description of the Problem
In the second half of the past century, medical imaging underwent a simultaneous revolution and evolution. Radiology as a field and as a practice completely changed when it transitioned from analog (film-based) to digital (screen-based) technology. PACS separated image acquisition, storage, and interpretation, and enabled many workflow improvements (such as remote viewing) that we take for granted today. Meanwhile, contemporaneous continuous improvements in medical imaging technology and protocols resulted in the maturation of many modalities and the development of many pathology-specific imaging protocols.
