New acquisition and reconstruction methods, such as automated tube potential selection, dual-energy acquisitions, and iterative reconstruction, certainly increase the variability possible in quantitative measurements, but these limitations should be readily accepted if they provide an avenue toward improving patient benefit by improving diagnostic performance or minimizing potential risk from radiation or intravenous contrast material.
