Summary: Patients with upper gastrointestinal discomfort are routinely referred for CT examinations and endoscopy. Although CT using gastric distention is a very effective tool, it is not tailored for evaluation of the stomach. In this review article, the authors emphasize the use of CT to diagnose a wide range of gastric pathologies, including adenocarcinoma on CT and primary gastric lymphoma; gastritis, peptic ulcers and various types of inflammatory conditions; and structural abnormalities, such as gastric volvulus.
