    Although the pancreas is located in the retroperitoneum, it maintains anatomic con­tiguity with various important peritoneal reflections and ligaments in the abdomen, including the transverse mesocolon, the small bowel mesentery, the hepatoduodenal ligament, the gastrohepatic ligament, the splenorenal ligament, the gastrocolic liga­ment, and the greater omentum .
