Thoracic: Aortic Aneurysm / Dissection - Page 1In our institution, preoperative imaging of thoracic aortic aneurysms may be confined to spiral CT with volume rendered reconstructions, which the vascular surgeons view in stereo at the workstation. The relationship of the great vessels to normal or pathologic aorta dictates the surgical approach and is more precisely conveyed to radiologists and surgeons with three dimensional renderings. The volume rendered display can be interactively modified to show the lumen of the vessel alone, or include any lower attenuation thrombus as well, an advantage over conventional angiography.
